Fiscal 2016 Year-In-Review
Thanks to all of our membership who made Fiscal 2016 another great year for the Central Virginia Chapter of the West Virginia University Alumni Association. The coming year promises to be even more exciting for your chapter, West Virginia University, and our beloved Mountaineers! Below are some of the accomplishments your memberships made possible from the past year along with reports on various activities.
Accomplishments Last Year
-Provided a scholarship to a local student through the Blake Fought Scholarship. The fund is currently valued is at $28,000. We are on track to give out 3 scholarships this fall.
-Donated $200 to FeedMore (Central Virginia Food Bank)
-Donated $250 to the Richmond WVU Parents Club
-Donated $250 to the MAC
-Donated $250 to the WVU Alumni Association
-Donated $1,000 to the Scholarship Fund
-Participated in the Alumni Leadership Institute in Morgantown
Finances
-$13,550.04 Total Assets; no liabilities
-Net Income through May = ($4,050.61) compared to $4,378.28 budgeted
Membership
-Paid membership for 2016 was at 86 members
-Membership provides for scholarships, community service, and supplements chapter activities for our members throughout the year
Activities this Past Year
-Football game watches at Bailey’s
-Annual dinner and business meeting in December
-Participated in the Ukrops Monument 10K by having a Spirit Tent on the course and received the Honorable Mention Award

-Provides updates via email, Facebook, and Twitter
-Like our new Facebook page: Central Virginia WVU Alumni

Upcoming Spirit
-Game watch parties will be held this upcoming year at Carolina Ale House – 11275 West Broad St.
-Night out at Hardywood Brewery and a game with the Flying Squirrels, date TBA
-Bus trip to FedEx Field for the BYU football game in the fall
Like WVU, our new fiscal year starts on July 1st, so we’re kicking off our annual membership drive today. It’s now time for our current members to renew and “Friends of the Association” to become paid members to help support the Chapter’s mission, and especially for all to participate in the upcoming activities and mingle with fellow Mountaineers from Central Virginia.
